This week we learned that two heads are better than one... During Writer's Workshop, students started working with writing partners. Students learned to be active listeners as their partners read stories to them. Students also learned that they can help their partners by asking questions about the story that has just been shared. Partners were able to help each other by making suggestions, helping spell words, or asking questions that helped our young authors clarify their own writing. Students were so excited to sit with a partner and talk about their writing and were even pretty excited to go back and work on suggestions their partners gave them! |

I love teaching kindergarten literacy at STEM! It is amazing to be a part of the reading and writing growth of a kindergarten student. You get to see kids move from knowing some letters and sounds to being enthusiastic readers and young authors. Archives
