This year four STEM teachers are participating in a STEM-based study group through Boundless Readers to learn about teaching students to conduct student-centered inquiry projects. We have worked hard at asking questions and in November launched a mini-inquiry project into the human body. Students used internet resources and books to learn about different parts of the human body. Students asked their own questions about their self-selected body parts and tried to find the answers through research. When students were finished conducting their research, they created posters to tell about what they had learned and teach their classmates about the human body. It was a great project!

I love teaching kindergarten literacy at STEM! It is amazing to be a part of the reading and writing growth of a kindergarten student. You get to see kids move from knowing some letters and sounds to being enthusiastic readers and young authors. Archives
