This week we combined all of the things that we have been learning about interesting and important details, topics, and main ideas to begin writing summaries for nonfiction texts. Using online magazines we have read before, we explored the topic and main idea of articles and used a main idea sentence to begin our nonfiction summary. Next, we looked for important details that we could write 2-3 additional sentences about to tell more about the articles. We did several shared writing activities on the Smartboard to write summaries for familiar articles. |
